Fanfare for the Common Man, Aaron Copland's masterpiece for brass and percussion, used in many commercials and television shows and synonymous with the spirit of America, will be featured on Sunday, October 21, at 3:00 PM at the new South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC). Our first Discovery Concert of the season, Discover Fanfares, will probe the special timbre effects and harmonies that make this fanfare so spine tingling. The concert will also explore Paul Dukas' contrasting Fanfare from La Péri. Then be surprised by fanfares you may have never listened to before by mystery Russian composers!

SOPAC, which opened in November 2006, features a 415 seat state-of-the-art live performance hall. With only 12 rows in the Orchestra plus 6 in the Mezzanine, each seat is so close to the stage you can make eye contact with the performers. There is a wide variety of dining options in the village of South Orange for those who plan to couple Discover Fanfares with dining before or afterwards. Discovery Concerts are recommended for ages 13 and up.
