Discover Beethoven's 5th Television Show Wins Three Telly Awards
We are pleased to announce that our television show, Discover Beethoven’s 5th ,has won two 2011 Telly Awards, one in the cultural category and one in the education category!  Additionally, we have also won a People's Telly, as judged by the members of the YouTube community.

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition which this year received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and many foreign countries. The Telly Awards annually showcase the best work of the most respected video and film producers, advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other - rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.  Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of a Silver Telly, the highest honor.  Other outstanding work is awarded a Bronze Telly.

The Discovery Orchestra’s educational Discovery Concert™: Discover Beethoven’s 5thİ premiere television broadcast will take place on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, 8:00 PM on public television affiliate MiNDTV based in Philadelphia.  MiNDTV, also widely available in central and southern New Jersey, will present the orchestra’s second television program in one of the top ten U.S. television markets.

2010-2011 Grants Affirm TDO Mission
The Discovery Orchestra (TDO) is proud to announce that the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts (NJSCA) have awarded the orchestra a total of $56,800 in support for the 2010-2011 season. Both grants provide for general operating and program support.  These affirmations of our direction are also reflected in the comments received with the grants. The Dodge foundation's past president & CEO David Grant noted: "...an orchestra whose unique contribution is helping people learn how to listen to classical music" and the NJSCA peer review panel lauded TDO for the "significant public benefit to be realized through this approach to lifelong learning".

Summit Area Public Foundation Provides Funding
The Discovery Orchestra (TDO) is pleased to announce that the Summit Area Public Foundation (SAPF) has approved a grant in the amount of $5,000 to support TDO’s 2010-2011 Discovery Concert series and Discover More Music listening sessions.
